Lawful Evil: "If you can't do your job, you're worthless."
I suppose it's not a fair comparison, since he can still do his job, just not quite as easily.
It makes me wonder, what type world do we want to live in, virtual or otherwise? Do we want one where setbacks and magnified or one where we work together through problems? Do we want a world that discards people at the first chance? Maybe some people do. Well fuck them.
Happy New Year. Unless you're Chinese or Mayan. In which case, go back to Mayachinaland.

WoW, like the real world, is a big place. There is plenty of room for jackasses like the deaf guy's former guild, as well as nice people who will happily accommodate his new playstyle.
The guy's new circumstances will upset every aspect of his life. It's sad to hear he was treated that way by people he thought were his friends. I still think his former guildmates should have the right to kick him, just as they deserve the (crappy) reputation and notoriety they will get in response to their actions.
As it turns out, he may not have known that his former guild was filled with lazy people who wouldn't/couldn't make changes for him. That makes them jerks. Reading the many many responses to his post, it seems there are plenty of people who would behave in a more supportive manner.
I guess what I'm saying is, I'd have no problem raiding with someone who communicated via text, but I can think of other types of people I'd rather not play with, and if someone made me do so in the name of "fairness" I wouldn't be playing for long.
It would be so easy to accommodate deaf guy too. Old guild = lazy idiots. Good riddance.
Oh, and hope you have a nice New Year... thanks for the blog, I like your writing.
What may be sadder is that his guild may not be filled with lazy jerks, but is filled with people who submit to a lazy jerk. This is why people must choose their tyrants carefully.
Thank you in return. Only a few words, but I do appreciate them.
Happy new year Klep and know its not lawful evil, its just ignorance. The guy could still do his job perfectly fine. Lawful evil would be if they had someone on the wings who was better in his role, but then they would have booted him without needing the excuse, he'd have been demoted from raider to social.
