With no association I think it would end up as confinement instead.Klepsacovichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07915576683657376929noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5462978744516866472.post-46256530189616213742009-11-21T21:44:23.740-06:002009-11-21T21:44:23.740-06:00I thought provoking post. Having lived in both big cities and small towns I agree with you assessment that big cities can bring together specialized interests that might not find each other in small communities. But in my observation those same connections also tend to be more attenuated. Tim and I had this conversation in a recent tread at PPI. Are you after association or intimacy? If all you want is association then a big city (cross server groups) works. But if you are looking for a sense of intimacy than small towns are a better bet.

That's why I'm not convinced as he is that a cross server LFG tool won't undermine that intimacy. After all, look at the huge shift in migration to the cities that has happened in the last 70 years in America. Now, I didn't think the situation are directly comparable. But I'm not so sure it's a slam dunk for Blizzard either. I may find that the people I meet in a random group are more interesting than my current guild mates and leave.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
