Bags are simple, so they'd not require many lines. With the minigame it could be faster (though you'd have to actually play the game) and cheaper on materials.

@Blimp: That's part of why I think the lines needed should vary with the item and be able to be combined to speed up the overall process. AS in the bag example, you're not going to spend 5 minutes to make a bag. Instead you might mass-produce and use 5 minutes to make 20 bags. In contrast a high-end piece of gear would take longer than a bag, but still not 5 minutes, and the skill element would allow for significant material savings.Klepsacovichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07915576683657376929noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5462978744516866472.post-59259008116039507482010-08-19T07:34:48.399-05:002010-08-19T07:34:48.399-05:00I wouldn't say that Wow crafting is boring or ...I wouldn't say that Wow crafting is boring or tedious. Just one click to produce as many items as I want is as simple as it is possible. Sure it's not interesting nor challenging or anything but at least it's a no-brainer. The issue with mini-games is that after some times, once you've mastered the mini-game it becomes a maxi-chore. Going through a 5 minutes mini-game the 1000th times is boring as hell.

Puzzle Pirates does it right though. You don't have to play a mini-game each and every time you produce something. You just need to practice the mini-game to become better at it which set the quality of labor you can offer (basic, medium and expert). Then you get hired by a workshop that will use your workforce depending on its order book and the types of these orders.Blimphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09523686868859482309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5462978744516866472.post-80831921152129410102010-08-19T06:05:03.400-05:002010-08-19T06:05:03.400-05:00Terrible idea. I craft Netherweave bags in batches of 60, it takes 15 minutes to make each batch from prepared mats (and making bolts from cloth takes another 7:30). Of course, I just alt-tab at the time of crafting.
To craft 60 Netherweave Bags in Tetris? The horror!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5462978744516866472.post-29546221968983838892010-08-18T19:29:52.998-05:002010-08-18T19:29:52.998-05:00You might be in the minority, but I suspect a lot ...You might be in the minority, but I suspect a lot of players just haven't considered that crafting could be anything other than boring.Klepsacovichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07915576683657376929noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5462978744516866472.post-39487824200184979862010-08-18T10:07:13.578-05:002010-08-18T10:07:13.578-05:00I'll just take a moment to point to Puzzle Pir...I'll just take a moment to point to Puzzle Pirates again; crafting there is based on a puzzle minigame, different for each type of crafting. It's a great way to make crafting more interesting and let player skill be important.

I strongly lean in that direction when it comes to crafting... but I suspect I'm in the minority on that.Teshhttp://tishtoshtesh.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
